Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Houston Rockets 29 NOV 2009

...they fire off t-shirts into the stands -- the t-shirt gods were smiling on me because one fell directly into my lap @ 6m42sec into the video :) the 2009-10 Oklahoma City Thunder season will be the 2nd season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Oklahoma City Thunder Schedule - 2009-10: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/teams/schedule?team=okc .By CHRIS SILVA | THUNDER.NBA.COM Posted Nov 29 2009 11:27PM The Thunder bottled up the Rockets transition game closed out shooters and contested shots. But it didnt finish defensive possessions. And that was part of what hurt the Thunder in its 100-91 loss to Houston at the Ford Center on Sunday. The Rockets made up for a lack of fast break points (four) and three-point shooting (7-for-23) with 23 offensive rebounds and 23 second-chance points. Houston collected 13 offensive rebounds for 15 points in the second half alone when it erased a nine-point deficit. We play well for 22 23 seconds and dont get a rebound forward Kevin Durant said. Thats kind of heart breaking and discouraging but back to work tomorrow. Thats the best thing about it. # Serge Ibaka continued to play well with extended minutes. The Thunder rookie finished with seven points two blocks and two rebounds in 23 minutes off the bench. He matched up well against the Rockets quick versatile lineups and provided a spark in the first quarter. He had a nice sequence when he set a high screen for Durant rolled to the basket and finished with a layup. On the ensuing defensive possession Ibaka blocked a shot almost had another and grabbed the rebound. Hes getting better Thunder head coach Scott Brooks said. Theres nothing that Ill say about his game tonight that I was disappointed in. He had a lot of activity. Hes just going to get better as he feels comfortable with the minutes out on the court and with the other guys. Durant said it was a great learning experience for Ibaka. Hes never played in the fourth quarter of a game like that a tough one Durant said. Hes learning from that. I know the next game hes going to be fully ready for it and we expect a lot out of him. # Brooks thought the Thunder did a decent job of containing Houston guard Aaron Brooks through three quarters but the Rockets speedster got loose in the second half when he scored 18 of his 21 points. Brooks is as quick as anybody in this league and they set great screens for him Brooks said. He was getting loose. All five guys didnt do a good job of converging on the ball tonight. # Talk about making your presence felt from the get-go. On the games opening possession Etan Thomas in the starting lineup for the first time this season aggressively dunked a missed shot from Russell Westbrook and as he was going up caught Luis Scola near the eye with his off hand delaying the game and sending Scola to the bench bleeding. Scola received seven stitches and did not return. Thomas said it was an unfortunate incident. # Durant got off to a strong start from the perimeter knocking down his first four shots from the floor. Durant finished with 25 points on 10-for-19 shooting to go with six assists and nine rebounds. Before the game Brooks said Durant has done a better job of figuring out when to shoot and when to make the extra pass. # D.J. White provided ample relief when Ibaka had to leave the game with four fouls with 3:15 left in the first half. White provided the same type of energy as Ibaka recording eight points and two rebounds including a jumper with 0.7 seconds left in the half.
